What is Progressive Video Poker?

Normally casinos offer a fixed payout for video poker. We run through the usual payouts in out variant reviews- so for example, get a Royal Flush when you are playing Jacks or Better Video Poker and you are in line for a 4000x coin payout. And land a royal flush with Deuces Wild in Deuces Wild Video Poker and you´ll land 125x coins as a payout (since the probability is that much higher).

The payout for a natural royal flush at maximum coins is the big one in most games and will net you the jackpot payout.  In progressive video poker, however, casinos offer a jackpot that builds as more people play the games. The jackpot becomes bigger and bigger until someone scoops it- at which time the jackpot resets.

Microgaming has two such progressive jackpot video poker games. One is called SupaJax (based on a Jacks or Better video poker game). The largest fixed payout is 3,000 coins at $1 coin play. If you bet $5 per game, however, and draw 4 jacks and the SupaJax card you will scoop the progressive jackpot. As we write this, the jackpot is sitting at $45,644- a nice earner if it comes in. The jackpot has been won a total of 24 times and has paid out almost $750,000.

Another Microgaming video poker progressive jackpot is Jackpot Deuces. You hit the jackpot in this game by landing a diamond royal flush. At the moment the progressive jackpot stands at $10,836.

Playtech also has a couple of progressive jackpot video poker games. One is 10-Line Jacks or Better. This is a basic 10 line Jacks or Better game with the progressive jackpot being triggered if you hit a royal flush at maximum bet on the first line only. A royal flush on any other lines nets you at 4,000 coins. The progressive jackpot stands at $11,845. In the last year it has been hit 39 times at an average of $13,173. Megajacks is the other Playtech progressive video poker game. This single hand game nets you the big one when you get a royal flush is drawn at max bet. The jackpot on this game tends to be lower, but hits more frequently.
